Shipping Policy

 IMPORTANT: All orders are shipped via UPS Ground In Florida and Southern Georgia. All orders are frozen solid and packed into a cooler with ice packs. If you are ordering Smoked Sausage, please understand that it is a smoked treated product with pink nitrate salt which both act as a preservative. Subsequently, if your sausage is slightly thawed upon arrival, your product is just fine. It is not as delicate or prone to bacteria as raw chicken for example.


In addition,  if your shipping destination is a good distance from Tallahassee Fl., say in North Carolina or further north, or Louisiana or further west, we highly recommend using UPS 3 day select or even  UPS 2 day if you are in places like California or New York. Choosing to use ground at those distances is purely at your discretion and Johnston's cannot be held reliable for spoiled product. Also, once the product leaves Johnston's Facility WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE for shipping damages caused in route to your address by UPS package handlers. Once it leaves Johnston's Meat Market we have absolutely no control over the product. If damage is sustained to your package, you must file a complaint with UPS. If there are any other issues, then please let us know so we can make it right! 


We cannot ship to P.O. Box addresses.

Online sales are final. We are unable to process returns, refunds or cancellations allowed on any orders that have shipped. See below for damaged or ‘wrong’ orders.

What is the shipping process? 

Order processing typically begins the day after your order is placed. Understand that the product must be frozen before shipping and if not it will of course need to be frozen for 24 hours before shipping. In addition, we typically do not ship out packages on Thursday or Fridays.   

If you have your package shipped UPS ground, you should receive your order 3 to 7 business days after it ships. 

Most carriers deliver packages anytime between 8am-8pm. Johnston’s does not require a signature for the delivery of its packages. Leaving a package at an address is ultimately up to the individual delivery person and is entirely outside our control.

Each fresh food item has specific instructions on how to store and prepare it. Perishable items are shipped frozen with cold packs. It is not uncommon for the ice to dissipate before delivery; however, the meat should still be cool to the touch upon arrival.

If you are placing an order for a time-sensitive event, we recommend placing your order early and schedule it to arrive 1-2 days before your event. Our products can be frozen or refrigerated upon arrival to preserve freshness.

Johnston’s is not responsible for delays in transit caused by high package volume, weather, mechanical error, strikes, natural disasters, terrorism safety control, local carrier mis-scans or inaccurate/incomplete shipping information, and we do not require a signature for the release of any shipment.

Return & Exchange Policy

Johnston’s takes enormous pride in every product we offer and strive to deliver them in the best possible condition.

We understand that sometimes items get damaged and we will work to resolve the situation quickly.

Please contact us at within 10 days of delivery with your order number as well as details and photos of the damage or defect.

Please share photos that include: 

  • A photo of the damaged area

  • Two full shots of the product (from the side and overhead)

  • A shot of the packaging/box

  • My order is missing something or contains the wrong item(s)

We do our very best to pack your order perfectly. We understand that sometimes mistakes are made and we will work to resolve your issue as quickly as possible. Please contact us by phone or email within 10 days of delivery.
